Cinque Terre 2

Although each small town has its own personality, it must be admitted that all five are very similar, and it is easy to lose one's bearings.  Fortunately, the middle village, Corniglia, is not on the sea, and so is readily identified - it does have a railway station however - accessible by many steps, or nowadays, a lift ...

The terraced vineyards are a conspicuous feature - longer than the Great Wall of China - according to the tourist blurb!

The mimosas are much further on than in Garfagnana, as seen in this beautiful specimen

Looking back at Corniglia

A mini rocking horse inspects a neat trio of squashes as we enter Corniglia

Lush undergrowth in the olive groves highlights the feeling of spring

Journey's end - almost at Vernazza
