A trip to Carregine

On Friday, we headed across the valley to have a walk and a picnic in the woods around the village of Carregine.  Last year we did a similar walk, but got lost, and had to be helped on our way by a truffle hunter and his dog.   This time, a good time was had by all, except that we decided to take a "short-cut" back to the car.  Big mistake.  We became lost again and ended up walking far too far.  So, with 21,574 steps on the step-counter - well done Betty! (and us ...)

The village of Croce, on the way up to our starting point

Nearly at our destination, with Monte Tambura in the distance
Another view of the imposng Monte Tambura, with rosy apples

This gentleman had taken a break from chopping firewood for his pizza oven to carve a practice cheese to be used in the run-up to the local cheese-rolling competition - true facts!

Emerging after a cappucino in Maria's cafè in Carregine
This fox, seen in field outside the village,  seemed happy to do its insect-hunting as we looked on nearby

The mass of the two Panias seen on our way back down in the car,  as the clouds roll in

  1. incredible, how near you got to the fox. And how nice Betty and Barbara, with Monte Tambura in the back!
