A walk on Monte Gragno

Today, we went across the valley to Vallico di Sopra, the starting point for a walk which traverses the steep slopes of Monte Gragno - a mountain which dominates the skyline above Fornaci di Barga, the town next door to Barga.

At a restored mill on the way

Al fresco lunch at Vallico di Sopra

This is chestnut country, and it's chestnut time

Beneath the impressive limestone cliffs ...
... and on the wooded slopes

Autumn crocuses - the first time we've seen them

A perfect sylvan scene

At the end of the path, about to regain the road

Beds of little cyclamen thronged the roadside in places
