Yesterday we noticed that one of the fruit trees was in bloom, and then saw a wild strawberry doing the same. Very cold here now, so I trust there are more buds to come ...
I don't know much about fruit trees Lynn! But I think these early flowers will be killed off, but there will be plenty more when the time comes. There aren't nearly enough pollinating insects around just now anyway ...
Yes of course. No insects. I suppose I imagine the tree might get set back by flowering too soon then losing it's flowers but maybe it will come back with renewed vigor as you suggest. You will maybe be there long enough to see the spring phase
If the blossom gets frosted will it flower again or have a season of no fruit?

ReplyDeleteDespite hard dry frosty days, the blooms still look healthy - and there was a red admiral flying around the terrace in the sun yesterday!
